  • About Us

We lend a helping hand in your academia.

    Who Are We?

The Peer Tutoring program is an academic assistance organization operated by and for students at Don Mills Collegiate Institute and Don Mills Middle School. Composed of volunteer Peer Tutors, who provide academic help, and Learning Partners, who register to receive tutoring services, our program covers a wide range of subjects and grade levels. To find out more about the people behind this program, meet our team.

    How Does It Work?

Tutoring services are offered in private sessions. These are meetings, held in a public location or privately online, in which Tutors provide academic assistance to their Learning Partners. All tutors may record their time spent during these sessions under volunteer hours at our monthly meetings.

See the Get Involved section below for more details and instructions on becoming a Tutor and/or Learning Partner!

  • Get Involved!

There are 3 ways to get involved in the DMCI Peer Tutoring Program:

Become a Peer Tutor, a Learning Partner, and/or an Executive Council member!

  • Peer Tutor

    Want to help others?

DMCI Peer Tutors are matched with one or more Learning Partners based on subject(s), and regularly meet with them in person to consolidate material covered in class. DMCI Peer Tutors earn hours (community service) for each tutoring session.

Arrange meetings with your LP(s), specifying the date, time, and place. Tutoring sessions must be held in a PUBLIC SPACE (e.g. the school library, public library, Tim Horton's, etc.). After each tutoring session with your LP, fill out a row on the log sheet, and have your LP sign in the column indicated. In order to log your hours into guidance (community service hours), attend each of the monthly meetings (held sometime in the last week of every month).

Start by filling out the Peer Tutor Sign Up Form. You will then be matched with a DMCI Learning Partner, whom you should contact ASAP. Then, download the log sheet to begin recording sessions.

    Learning Partner

    Need help in school?

If you would like to receive regular one-on-one help with one or more subjects, sign up to be a Learning Partner!

Your tutor(s) will arrange meetings with you, and you are to attend each meeting in order to maximise your success.

Start by filling out the Learning Partner Sign Up form. You will then be matched with a DMCI Peer Tutor, who will contact you within a few days.
